Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the M37. Is the ring gear on the faceplate or torque converter? Either way it shouldn't be too difficult to modify a faceplate to work. Have you considered upgrading to an overdrive transmission? |

A 232 stroker is called a 258 and the difference in performance is nil. I've driven several of each and both engines feel the same to me. A stopwatch could tell the difference by a few fractional points but my butt in the driver's seat doesn't care. I'd build a 232 or 258 as strong as a bank vault and turbo the literal crap out of it before I ever put a 232 or 258 crank into a 4.0L block. I like engines that I can run flat-out floored for hours on end and not have to worry about them blowing up. |

The best performance upgrade for every small AMC motor from 199 to 343 is a 360. I wouldn't spend a nickel on anything less.
