My 1969 M12 is leaking fluid where the vacuum modulator screws into the transmission. The modulator was in extremely tight but after I got it out the o ring was still intact. I replaced the o ring with a new one but it still leaks. Have tightened it twice and it seems to stop it leaking for a while but it starts again within a day or so. Should I Teflon tape the threads? RTV the threads?

If its really leaking at the o ring you might try using some flat sealing washer, some modulators come with one. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ford-FMX-Automatic-Transmission-Vacuum-Modulator-With-Free-Gasket-/222591519628 Iv seen couple leaking from where the modulator halves are pressed together. |

I can see it leaking where it meets the case when I used a mirror trying to find it. I originally thought it was the pan gasket but it just accumulates on the pan rail and drips down. A challenge is when I remove the valve it drains out about five quarts of atf.

Teflon tape won't hurt. I'd use gas rated tape, it's a bit better and should hold up under oil better as well. That's gas as in "natural gas" or LPG...
