Yep. I think the first time I met him was in the 1980s in Long Island? at the house of someone who bought an AMX from him. IIRC, Larry drove it from CO to NY to deliver it- which is over 1800 miles

Larry once flew out to Calif with a tool box and an AMX front bumper that had a tow hitch attached to it and an AMX rear bumper with a trailer hitch attached to it, (See where I'm going with this yet?). He bought (2) AMX's, used the better one to swap the rear bumper for the one with a ball hitch and the other AMX got the special front bumper with the tow hitch. He then disconnected the rear of the driveshaft in the towed AMX and bailing wired it up out of the way, then drove back home with one AMX towing the other.

Last time I saw Larry I was on a business trip for a TOGO'S we were building near his home. Larry picked me up in a Jeep and we returned to his house to look thru his archives. I bought a pair of exhaust manifolds from him for a friend, wired them together, put them in a carboard box and fashioned a carrying handle out of coat hangers and tape, (More on this later). I then took Larry and Linda out to dinner before my late flight back to CA.

Larry drove me to the airport in a 401 Pacer that he floored it into a curved banked on ramp that surprised me how it hugged to the road in the turn and he did not kill us both.

Got to the airport and I took those exhaust manifolds onto the plane. Security at first said they were to heavy and I would have to go check them as baggage. I handed him my briefcase, which weighed more that the manifolds and he said OK go ahead and onto the plane I went. (Try that today at any airport!).

Last time I spoke with Larry was early 2002, as I hired him for $150.00 to evaluate a 1938 Ford Coupe for me that I was interested in buying in Greely, CO. Based on his accurate & detailed report, I bought the 38 Ford and just sold it last Sunday.

I had a ride in that same Pacer, and it was quite impressive. I remember it had a bumper-sticker that said something like "I have a cool car, and you don't".
Larry had my AMX repainted, and did a restoration of the rolling chassis, before I ran out of money.

Not many of us old timers left !

And now Pat Whiteside is gone as well. Unhappy
