i am trying to install a new moog upper ball joint in my 74 javelin. it seems to big for the hole in the control arm as it wont seat properly and when trying to tighten the retainer bolts the dust boot spits out.

Are you installing them from top or bottom of arm?
They fit from the bottom and retainer holds boot against bottom of ball joint plate. |

found my problem, the last owner of this car installed the ball joint wrong and instead of looking at my TSM i tried to put it in the way it came out. installed from the bottom and all is well now.
