I'm going to be swapping transmissions next week.  It looks like with the transmission out the oil pan can be removed without dropping the crossmember, is that correct?

if so, seems like this would be a good time to replace the rear main seal and oil pan gasket as I do have an engine oil leak back there somewhere.  Just checking to see if this is possible.

I don't know if it will clear the oil pickup.

When I had my rear main seal on my 343 replaced we decided to go in through the top and pulled the engine out. This made it pretty easy to get the seal in and we also replaced the Main Bearings while in there.

cam,  the oil pan will not clear the pick up without either removing the crossmember or lifting the engine up.
