matty401 the Wix 51049 definitely does not cross to the Purolator L30005 because it has no ADV. It seems like Wix will try to cross their filters to anything with the same thread. Purolator L30005 is a good filter and still available. I see no reason to switch to the Ford filter.

There is if you have do not have a local parts store that carries Purolator. Walmart carries Purolator filters but not necessarily the right one.

Another minor benefit of switching to a Ford/Mopar type filter is that there is a bypass internal to the filter, this means the bypass in the oil filter adapter can be safely blocked.

There are too may reports of WIX filters with bad anti-drainback valves to recommend them for an AMC. For reference the correct WIX number with an ADV is 51258.

I use the four liter part swap so I have a larger choice of filters to use.Buy mine at the large swap meets from the vendors. The larger filter size is a plus.

Back several years ago, Consumer Reports tested oil filters. The Motorcraft FL-1A was the best of those tested. That opened my eyes.

I don't care who makes it, if it performs better than "big orange," it's worth considering.
Buzzman72...void where prohibited, your mileage may vary, objects in mirror may be closer than they appear, and alcohol may intensify any side effects.

consumer reports picked the vega as a best buy so I generally don't believe anything automotive they recommend.

Motorcraft is a great filter line though.
