So far as I'm aware, Carter was the supplier for the 232 and 258 here in the US and Canada.  First with the YF 1bbl on both the 232 and the 258.  Later, a 2bbl Carter BBD was used on some versions of the 258, and then the BBD with electronic feedback was phased in starting in 1980.

In other countries, other carbs and intakes were used, perhaps most famously in Mexico on the 282 version of the motor.

Over the years, many carbs have been used.   Several carters of course.  But Holley 1908 (like a 1904) and Holley 1909 have been used by AMC.  Motorcraft 2150s and Webers of several sizes have been used (aftermarket) on 2-barrel manifolds.  Little Holley 4-barrels have been used.  Joe

Early 232's used the Holley 1931 1v and Carter WCD 2v. The 199 used the little Carter RBS.

Later 232's and 258's used the Carter YF 1v and some 258's used the Carter BBD 2v.

I have driven an early 232 with the WCD and I've driven a later 232 with the YF. The extra flow of the WCD was nice on the highway and while passing but was a pain in the neck at lower speeds. The YF was nice nicer to drive in most situations and I preferred it. The YF is also unbelievably simple and easy to tweak.
