The seals were easy to get out. I remember using a seal puller tool and a pair of pliers. But while you've got access to the front seal you probably should do it.

Brian, unless the trans is leaking (I know it is greasy but can't say where there are any leaks.) you don't really have to put a whole seal kit in it, but the one seal I would recommend replacing is the front pump seal (on the front of the tranny.). The seal is relatively cheap and easy to access when you have the tranny out and you can easily damage that seal if the weight of the torque convertor is allowed to hang on the front shaft even for a little while, which will distort that seal, especially if it is old and not so pliable any more. Thought i'd update the thread: got everything back together and the car fired up after many tries. Hasn't run long enough to put into gear, but that should be soon!
