I've picked up a 1970 2 door hornet. It has absolutely no suspension under it. Im parting out a 1976 Sportabout X. Can I use all the 76 parts on the 70.
Right now the 70 is on a cart. So I can move it around. I plan on installing a 304. I have V8 cross member already. Otherwise, it came with no nothing, no rear end, drive shaft, front end. I will be tak8ng the sportabout to scrap next weekend or the next. So i figured I'd take what I can off the Sportabout first. |

It's a starting point. I don't normally like 2 door cars. |

is every 1970 Hornet Frost White?! lol. it's a nice color, actually...
the 70 shares a lot of minor parts with the 69 american, seemingly random. gas cap, filler neck, etc. i can't tell you authoritatively about the suspension, but it 's the "70s" suspension and i would think it should mostly bolt right in. try looking up parts to "buy" at Galvins, see if they list the same strut rod, bushings, ball joints, etc, for 70 and 76. my parts catalog doesn't go up that new, sorry. |

The front suspension parts will be the same (I believe the lower control arms would be the same). Steering I can't swear to but that may even swap across.
As far as the lower and upper control arms they would be the same. Spring rates could differ but the front springs will fit physically. In fact upper control arms from any AMC except Pacer will fit from 1970 on up so you could use upper control arms from an Eagle! I have a stack of upper control arms from various AMCs from 70 on up and they are all identical. Strut rods - I don't see why they would be different but a look in a parts book would tell. |

Just about everything will swap over. Paul, I know where that car came from. theres a few things that are different, but if you swap everything from one car to another, usually they fit.

Tom, you, you know the car. Pale yellow tho, not white. So I can just put all the parts from the 76 under the 70.
Im still not sure what engine I'll put in it. I have a 304 with 52,000 and a 232 with 000,000 miles(got it from Rambler auto body in Burlington, IA close out sale last year or so). Just more wamt to get it off the cart it's sitting on. Even if I roll it out into the driveway it'll lo9m better than sitting on a cart with the doors and front clip stuffed inside. Thank you guys |
