I'm fascinated by this kind of minutia.  So....here is a picture of parts car #1 with a December 1969 build date.


Here is a picture of parts car #2 with an April 1970 build date.


I believe three things now:  1)  The integrated socket/grommet is the earlier version.  2)  If Steve's car is a May build the transition was in the April-May time frame.  3)  The reason for the change was that the first version would become dislodged.
