Hi everyone, I have a 69 Rambler American wagon with a 232 and I believe a T35 (M35, Flash-O-Matic?). The engine runs like a top but as soon as I put her into reverse or any forward gear she bogs down really hard and will move but I have to keep feathering the throttle real hard and there's no chance of making it past 35mph. the only thing that isn't connected is a little blue wire sticking out of the side of the case that has been cut. I assume this is just for the reverse lights but I really don't know anything about transmissions, especially these ones. There's no vacuum leaks, and the modulator valve has been recently replaced as well as the filter. Hopefully one of you fine keyboard warriors has a simple solution that I can kick myself later for not catching haha. Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance!

Fist, I will say this before you get any other advice.: Get the service manual for your car. It has a pretty good diagnostic section for automatic transmission problems and it can help you understand and service all the systems on your car.
That said, with the car in neutral, does the engine bog at all when you race the engine. Have you put the rear of the car up on jack stands and tried to turn one or both of the back wheels? Are the rear brake shoes adjusted correctly? and is the parking brake properly adjusted? Joe

First and foremost, check the transmission oil level, I have been caught out with that a couple of times. It should be checked with the engine running.
