Sounds like you are talking about my 70 390.  I used a pair of heads I believe came from a 72 engine to lower static compression, it's bored (due to prior detonation issues) K-B pistons, Comp cam, etc.

The 7032 is an old school race piston, very high compression and has to be machined to use in a 401. It also has drilled instead of slotted oil reliefs which need much larger piston to wall clearance. Not a good piston for a street application.

To me there are much better newer technology options if you are building a race engine.

Redoing the  engine  for a 70 machine. I have the 401 crank in it to make use of a 727 behind  it.

Thank you for the info.  No interest in building  a race engine just a nice street engine.
