T5 throwout bearing guide length varies with application. On my Opel I cut it down to match the length of the original Opel guide and it works perfectly.

The older ones were internal slave style like that, but 94+ switched to an external style.

I've been looking into an Ax15 2wd swap behind a 360. The 4.0L bell bolts right up no problem, but the V8 flywheels are thinner than the 4.0L and are specific to the engine size. It's said you can just get a 4.0L (neutral balanced) flywheel match balanced to so as to work on the v8 you choose to use (must also use the 4.0L starter).

Others have said you can space the trans back to make up the difference and continue using the stock v8 flywheel (I've been playing with this on my test setup using a stock 4.0L block plate cut to leave just the outer ring as a spacer). I have multiple Jeep Ax trans and used a newer 4wd one to convert my older 2wd to have the much more desirable external slave setup as it's all bolt on.

Clutch throwout bearing and slave cylinder were suspect but NOT the problems. The clutch is simply that horribly out of spec. When I zip down the bolts, the teeth on the cover lock down as if pressure is already being applied. Any more force applied to that situation results in no change whatsoever. It's real stupid but after 2 years of thumbing around with other stuff and coming back to this once every few weeks, I have no idea how I got here. It's a massive oversight but any manual transmission could have this happen.

Only other thing I notice from a auto-manual swap is that the gear ratio change is a shocker. My wagon still carries the factory 2.72 diffs and while that was great with a 3spd auto, it does NOT behave well with a T-5 in reverse. Loves forward gears and that deep 4.03:1 first gear is a minimum. I need to get started on a reduction box because I am NOT changing gears on this car. Ouch
