Spent some time removing the five-leaf Espo springs, which were supposedly heavy duty stock replacements, and switching to Calvert Racing's split mono leafs. Also replaced the stock shocks with Calvert's 9-way adjustable.

The Espo springs had too much arch and the rear sat too high.

Calvert & Espo side-by-side.

Here's a comparison from Espo to Calvert. Might be a bit difficult to see as I didn't hold the camera level in the Espo photo.

Espo springs:

Calvert mono leafs:

I had to modify the Cal-Trac plate shock mount since they're not at the correct angle. It caused an interference problem with the exhaust.

There's much more give in the Calvert springs and they're lighter. Ride has improved a bit. Haven't hammered the gas yet. I'm hoping to work it so I get as much bite with DOT tires as I do slicks.

It's been a few months now with the new springs and shocks, are you liking them? I'm thinking about getting some for my AMX and I was just wondering if the ride suffers or if you find it tolerable? I also like the ride height. Did you go with the stock ride height?
Thanks for any info!

Did you just heat and bend the shock bracket or cut- bend and weld?

Still a stiff ride but tolerable. I chose the stock height but they still seem a bit taller.

I've been to the track a few times and it has a better launch than before.

I cut the shock mount along the top stopping short of cutting it completely off. Then bent it inwards and welded it back up.

I had these springs on 74 AMX and worked very well. There Rancho adjustable shocks that they sell
make the ride much better for street use and turn of a dial to adjust bite.

I appreciate the feedback. Ive been wondering about these for a while now and it's nice to know they're definitely tolerable. Now I just have to commit and order them!
