Does anyone know how to get the bearing out of the idler pulley? I have the new bearing.

There is a nut on the back to release the pulley from the bracket.

Clean out along the bore with a tooth pick to remove any contaminates, and you will see a snap ring. Once you remove the snap ring the pulley and it's bearing can be separated by using the nut to pull out the bearing when threaded back onto the stud. May need some liquid wrench and leverage, as the bore may have some rust or caked on grime.

Larry...not all A/C Idlers have a removable bearing.  Early versions are held in with snap ring, later units are swedged in place and can not be replaced, the pulley is stamped syeel.  The early version, is cast iron, once snap ring is removed, I use a slide hammer with same diameter and thread pitch to pull the bearing from the bore.

I have the snap ring out but it has not budged yet. I have it soaking in PB blaster. Try again this morning. Thank you for all the info. Larry

Try this:
https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/penetrating-oil-showdown.350800/
Best penetrating oil and still using it. Shake before use and store in metal oil can.
Also if you have hydraulic lifters to clean up, just soak them in this for a few days and they come out clean, any varnish removed also.
Use all standard precautions as Acetone is flammable, will remove paint and solvent to some plastics.

The problem is not corrosion (rust), but rather the bearing is a "Transition Fit" to the Cast Iron Pulley.  I have to use by Arbor Press to put them back in.  I use a Dowel Puller to remove them.  The threaded stud has to be pulled on to get the stud and bearing out.  If you have an old axle puller/slide hammer, just weld a nut the stud size to a nut the axle puller size and use that to pop it apart.  It is NOT a slip fit, they didn't want the outer bearing race to spin in the pulley.

Where did you get the new bearing? I would like to put a new one on my car before I do the power tour this year.
