I have several 343 engines the I am in the process of using to rebuild a couple of them. Three have the crankshaft with the WF marking, and one is labeled arma steel. is this a superior crank to the WF ones?

Google "Armasteel" and you'll find that it's really a marketing gimmick by GM (who trademarked the alloy in 1937). It is indeed a cast iron crank and is not a forged steel crank.
