Put new Wilwood brakes on 73 AMX Javelin
Now I have a hesitation in the brakes when applied
first it feels as if you are not applying the brakes, even though there is resistance on the brake petal feel. Then there is a click feeling in the petal and the brake come on strong. You can not feather the brakes on. Booster is new
brake lines are new
proportioning valve is new.
rate of speed I a problem going slow rocks you toward the wheel worse that having some momentum behind you.

I was told about a nut that may be worn down in the brake lever arm -- but to not know where that is an how it affects the brake action.

Ideas?
Cures?

Welcome
There is a section on Brakes and that is the best location to learn about your brake system and share.

Double check that the entire brake system is a match. My first inclination that comes to mind is the brake rod from the pedal to the master cylinder is either the wrong part (length) or not adjusted to the correct length. Second, is the master cylinder. New or rebuilt, they can have issues. The master cylinder must match correctly ( front disc & rear drum, front disc & rear disc, front drum & rear drum).
Another issue that sounds familiar with this type of problem is old or collapsed brake lines. The rubber hose on the outside of the apron assembly, running from the solid mount on the apron and going to the caliber may have collapsed on the inside of the hose.
Fourth, the booster may be the issue. Is the booster the correct item for the brake system. ( Drum vs. disc brakes)
Just some items to reconsider!
