Never had a functional factory autochoke. It had already been bodged to manual when I bought the car.
When I changed the carb I had a manual choke fitted. That's OK, except it's hard to get the balance between choke and fast idle. The only difference I think with or without the riser is the time taken to warm up the carb so one can lose the choke. Running rich is not good for the engine or one's wallet, but as I don't have a daily commute I can live with it. Worse I think to have a riser that sticks On, the carb overheating the wet fuel level going up the rough idle or no idle. It's one of those things on the car that I'll probably never get around to fixing, so it's better that its Off. Ivor |

If you have a manual choke then simply delete the thing.
of alternatively force it open and abandon it in place.... |
