Someone here should have a spare set they'd send you at a reasonable price. I only have one spare set that I'm going to keep just in case I ever have an issue.
The threaded bushings like AMC used on the lower trunnions were industry standard at the time (through the early 50s). Don't know exactly when rubber bushings replaced the threaded bushings, but 48-49 Packard and 1950 Chevy trucks used them even on the inner mounts... had to be a lot of road noise transmitted up through the suspension! We get so used to the way tings have been done in the last 20 years or so that we forget they haven't always been that way! AMC did hold out on things like that a lot longer than others, and most people think they did things in weird ways because of it. They haven't seen a Chevy or Ford with those threaded metal to metal bushings since at least 1954 -- AMC used them on the big car upper trunnion through 1969! As you said, not much stress there. In AMCs defense they had limited R&D money compared to the big three, so why change what works well when there are other things more important that need updating? |
