I had one of the cheap made in China cast iron housings and could never get the pipe fitting plug to seal properly. Always found a puddle of coolant in a hollow in the intake after a drive. Tried Teflon tape, thread sealer, RTV, you name it, nothing worked. I may have just gotten a bad one, but I wouldn't rely on one. You're always better off with OEM.

not that it matters now,
but I've read that the yellow gas pipe teflon tape is thicker.
Might have made a difference (or not) Smile

To the OP
if the question is if a brand new AMC water neck made in the USA by Edelbrock would be well received,
I would say that yes it certainly would,
but as always, price would likely be a factor.
