I have a 74 AMX. The door panels have Speaker Grills and Speaker Wire, but no Speakers. My questions are this-
Did these Cars come with Speakers at Build? Curious cause I find it odd to have everything but the Speakers in Place. Second, does anybody know where I could get Speakers that would fit both the Depth and Size for the Spot as I was thinking of adding A set. Any help would be appreciated. |

Hello Allan,
If your AMX was equipped with a Factory Motorola Multiplex Radio w/8-Track, the set up would be a 4 way speaker system: one in each door, and 2 mounted underneath the rear package tray behind the back seat, total of 4 Speakers. But, if your AMX had just an Factory AM/FM Radio, then you should have one front speaker under the Dash Grill in the center of the Dash, and the 2 rear speakers, total of 3. I am not sure if the cars were pre-wired for speakers in the doors, or only wired if they actually had speakers? Below, is a photo of what the speakers in the door, with the mounting plates, look like. Also a photo of a replacement speaker you can purchase. **Best that I remember, the door speaker size is 5.25 inches. Hope this helps....   Edited by dltowers - Dec/03/2017 at 7:07am |

5-1/4" pin with cushion frame like the Aura above is the proper size and frame shape.

Long time AMC fan. Ambassador 343, AMX 390, Hornet 360, Spirit 304 and Javelin 390. All but javelin bought new.
