Did that rebuild the motor thing and got it squared up and in working order.
Thought I’d run the tranny through it’s gears to check my rpm drop. It’s good.
However, return from reverse to park makes a loud metal scrubbing sound for a few seconds and then engages park. What’s that about?

Sounds like you bent the dust cover and it rubs on something sometimes

Is it ALWAYS when engaging reverse and then into park?

If your on jack stands make sure you stand on the brakes hard enough to stop the rear tires before jamming it in park. Very easy to have wheel rotation on jack stands, and very hard on the tranny to be moving the gear lever with the wheels rotating.

Jack stands for the win!
I learned something- use the brakes

Honorable mention goes to dust cover.
I’ve had that happen in an old build. It was the converter drain plug, all gears at high rpm.
That kinda made a tapping sound.
