QUICK QUESTION:
I have 70 AMX with 71 and up front disc brake set-up. Facing the front of car, caliper is in the front of the disc brake assembly ? It has been a very long tine since front end has been apart. thanks.

And a more complicated answer is "it doesn't matter". The bleeder screw needs to be on "top" of the caliper. While most calipers are mounted on the front, some models use them mounted on the rear (I think the Hornet/Concord does?). The early trunnion cars all mount the caliper to the front due to clearance issues (if it were mounted on the back). Easy to swap from front to back -- swap mount brackets left to right and vice-versa. Just remember that the bleeder screw needs to be up.

thanks for the details on position of caliper. Reviewing TSM brake layout drawing, caliper could go either way.

As long as the bleeder is up like Farna stated. Listen to him, he knows his stuff. If the bleeder is facing down, the air gets trapped inside the caliper. The brakes feel mushy, no pedal and not safe. |
