I swapped out a M-11 to at 727 and would like to use the original floor shifter in my 68 Javelin. Does anyone have any pics of how they mated the original rod to the 727?

I posted both console 68 to 70 automatic and 71 to 74 Javelin schematics. In the M11 shift rod thread about the beginning of summer. Have a 71 with BW and had a 73 with TC automatic. The difference is rod length for the most part. Though the shift lever is different by lockout rod apply is done. You can obtain an adjustable shift rod via Hurst Indymatic on the cheap or adjust the M11 to fit if long enough. You may need to slightly bend the rod into proper shape if clearance is needed. |

304-dude, thanks I found the thread. I guess my next question would be where do I find the pivot and what does it mount to. The rod coming from the shifter connects to a pivot and then a rod goes from the pivot to the trans to change the direction, since the 727 shifting pattern is opposite as the M-11. Should I just try and fabricate one or do you know if these are available?

If this is the post that everyone is referring to, it looks like the pivot and extra linkage are there to support the ignition key interlock. The actual shift rod from the shifter to transmission for the 727 is only one rod.

Ok...now I see my problem. I am wrong on the shift pattern of the 727. I was thinking the shift lever on the trans needed to be towards the motor to be in "Park", when actually the lever on the trans is towards the rear when in "Park".

Basically reverse the ends 180 degrees, of the rod, to fit the way the tc shift lever is done, then use the threaded end with the proper fitting to install to your shifter. You may need to slightly bend the rod for clearance.
