Strong smell of gas

When tooling around in my '73 Javelin with T-10.  MSD ignition, 291-C heads, Performer intake, unknown cam and a Holley double pumper of some sort, I get no smell of gas.  When I decide to mash the throttle and go through the gears a fast as I can, I get a raw fuel smell inside the car.  When I stop I can not see or smell where it is coming from.  It does not do it all of the time and if memory serves me correctly it only happens on very hot days.  The fuel pump is the second one I got from Summit.  the first one stopped working after about 2-3 hours, maybe, of run time.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

One time in my 69 AMX I did not put the fuel cap on correctly. I would get fumes when I punched it. A friend behind me flagged me down and told me every time I punched it gas would come out the tank.

Update: I fired up the Javelin yesterday. I let it warm up for about five minutes and then slowly started out the driveway. I didn't get 100 feet when I started to smell gas really strong. I drove another 300 feet and it got worse.  I popped the hood and saw gas spraying out of the rear of the carb.  I backed the car   into my drive and looked again but it was not spraying.  I found the rear fuel line into the carb loose and the bolts that hold the rear plate of the carb all loose.  I fired the engine up again and took it for a run around  the block and I smelled no gas nor did I see any when I looked.  Hopefully this was the cause all along. I will mash on it on a hot day to be sure this was the cause.
