Friend has two AMC V8 cranks he wants to sell, but trying to ID. Can't find these #s in my parts book. One has 3156921 F; and other has 3190797 F stamped on them. Thinks they are 390 cranks. Anyone help?

The 315-6921F crank is for 71 401.

If the 7th number given as a 1, is actually a 7 then it would be for a 70 390.

The 319 0797F may be for a 68/69

One way to check for dates is on the counter weight machined face near the front of the crank.
It should have large number like 68, 69 or 70. Though some early 70 cranks were done in 69.

Not sure but the 68 390 did not start production til 68.
71 Javelin SST body
390 69 crank, 70 block & heads
NASCAR SB2 rods & pistons
78 Jeep TH400 w/ 2.76 Low
50/50 Ford-AMC Suspension
79 F150 rear & 8.8 axles
Ford Racing 3.25 gears & 9" /w Detroit locker

Thanks all. Both are the early flange. I'll post these in the for sale section later with owners tel#. Believe both are 20 over. Probably been stored since the 80's. Located in Ft. Lauderdale.

Is there any difference between manual and auto crankshafts?

mstrcrftr View Drop Down
has a crank listed 317 8451 C
which looks like it would do the trick?

I need a crank for a 343 Manual

Manual and Auto cranks are the same,
Manual would have a pilot bushing inserted for the input shaft.

290 & 343 cranks are the same as well,
but the 290 crank is balanced to the lighter pistons so you may have to add weight to one if used in a 343.

Auto vs Manual flyweel confusion may be because of the crankshaft change in 1972 to use Mopar Auto's,
1972 + crankshafts, or adapter plates are needed to use a later 9xx, or 727 series Mopar Auto.
