I am looking to rebuild the bottom end of my 79 258. Anybody know the best place to find a decent used or after-market c rank that matches the specs? I specify the year since AMC went to a lighter crank with fewer counterbalances in 81. I have an 83 crank that will drop in but I would prefer to match the pistons and etc. with the original weighted crank to avoid any possibilities of vibration issues. I'm trying to avoid an expensive heartbreak. I am assuming that any crank between 75 and 79 would be safe bets. Other suggestions?

Couldn't you simply remachine the existing crank?

You can buy them done and ready to go or rebuild you own.

The 79 crank is junk. All of the journals are badly scored and beyond repair.

I have two 12 counterweight cranks.  Both are in good condition.  Still wouldn't hurt to have them cleaned up.
