Hi, my car (63 Rambler Classic 660) currently has a locking gas cap and I want to replace it with a "regular" gas cap. I see on Galvins AMC Rambler Parts the only one that fits a sedan other than the locking gas cap is a vented cap. Would this cap work on my car? I'm not sure what fits what or if my fuel tank is ventilated or not. The gas cap I have in mind is the one with a chrome handle, would this be it?

I don't think mine (64) is vented but I believe the filler pipe has an extra vent line so it probably doesn't matter what cap goes on. Take that with a grain of salt until somebody else gives better advice.

I have an early 70s locking gas cap, which is vented. If your tank is vented, the cap still will seal. When vacuum is created by fuel cooling or fuel being pumped out of the tank, air will pass from the vent in the cap.

If your tank should receive back pressure under heat expansion of fuel, it will not vent from the cap. The rubber seal if not dried out and cracked should seal and keep pressure inside.

I should have done some investigating beforehand but I just looked at the backside of the locking gas cap I have and it has vented written on it so I would imagine I'd be good to go with what Galvins is selling.
