(Alpine CDE-153BT) Is the Illumination wire(Orange)used in our classic cars? If so do I tap into the headlight switch?
Thanks in advance |

Any wire with a +12v when headlights are on would work. Ideally it would be one of the variable voltage wires that dim off the rehostat of the headlight switch if your car has that option (I think all did but not certain). I am not sure if that alpine unit has interactive dimming or if it simply dims to one level when voltage is sensed on the dimmer control wire. A lot of the aftermarket head units would only have two display brightnesses dimmed for night and full brightness for the day.
