If your wipers are electric, an electric washer pump and proper plastic washer bottle will be needed.

If vacuum wipers, you need a dual diaphragm fuel pump and lines along with a special washer switch that is a lever pump for squirting washer fluid.

Assuming the wiper lever has spring back action, yes it is a vacuum setup.

You need not so easy to obtain items to make it work.

They are available but pricey because of body and limited to years used. 72 was the last year for the electric wiper motor system by Prestolite. Since 73 Motorcraft was used.

Here is the catch, you can do either setup, though it will take a bit of careful parts finding as few items can be used between the two setups.

The wiper switches and wiring to the wiper motor are different for 73 and 74. The Motorcraft wiper motor uses a 2 year only transmission linkage that does not work on Prestolite.

Prestolight has its own harness built in to the motor, so no wiring harness needs to be sourced. You will need a two year only switch to run wiper motor.

Good news is the washer switch and electric pump and bottle are used on all 71 on up cars, just javelin switches are specific to the car.
