I converted my '78 V8 Pacer to an HEI distributor. The engine will not shut down when the ignition is turned off and it keeps draining the battery. Anyone have an idea what my problem is?

Hot wire to dizzy needs to be on only with key, not hot when off.

You may need a drop in resistor. Look at the instruction page at the MSD website and it will explain the issue and the fix

I've fixed this problem by adding a diode in the hot wire to the HEI dist.   radio shack rated at least 10 amps
