    Posted: Aug/07/2017 at 1:53pm
Not sure this is the right place to put this question but I am wanting to buy a new speedo cable for my 69 Rambler.  I installed a 904 trans.  So I know I can buy a speedo cable for a 904.  However, does the cable connection into the speedometer gauge fit for any model AMC?  In other words, could a 69 Rambler gauge connect properly with a 904 speedometer cable?  Galvin's shows a 904 cable on their website but can't answer my question.  I know others have installed 904's in the Rambler American style cars so there must be something out there that will work.  Thanks in advance for any input.

I used a 727 in my Rogue and its speedometer cable had a snap on end at the speedometer head rather than the screw on end. The inner cable does fit the speedometer head, but it will not attach. I used two small strips of plastic and clamped them with a small hose clamp to the end of the speedometer cable, and then clamped them with another clamp to the speedometer head, holding the cable in place. There is no force trying to separate them, so it doesn't take much.
It has been like that since 2002 without a failure and it is under the dash where no one can see it. OK, now you know my secret. Look there and deduct a point.
