Hey guys, my buddy is gonna order wheels for his 72 amx. The wheels he wants are the 15x 8 with a 4.5 in. back space. What's the biggest tire he can get on the front without any rubbing issues? The rear has quite a bit of room I believe. I was thinking 245/60 or if a 255 would work, that would look great. He was gonna order 225/60 and I told him to fill those wheel wells up a little....lol. He also wants to be able to rotate them so he want's them all to be the same size. I know folks who are putting 275 on an 8 in rim but it pulls the tire in too far and balloons the side walls. Not looking for that at all .If a 255 would work properly on both the rim and have no rubbing issues, that would look great.

I have 225/60's on the front and 255/60's on the rear all on 15 x 8" wheels. I had 235/60 on the front but had issues with them rubbing on turns going over bumps, like turning into a gas station going over the curb. The 225's fixed that.

I had 275/60-15 BFG T/A tires on a 72 AMX years ago. this was on the factory 15 x 7 slot rims. I think I ran 215/70-15s up front

I have 225/60 on the front & 275/50 on the rear of my 72 amx and while it looks like there's lots of room on the front I wouldn't go bigger.

This is with 15x8 weld wheels with 4.5" backspace

4.25" on the front and 4" on the rear. Here's a pretty good shot of what they look like.
