HAVING STARTING ISSUES WITH A 68 RAMBLER AMERICAN. TRYING TO TROUBLE SHOOT THE PROBLEM. COULD SOMEONE TELL ME WHICH WIRE HAS THE 12 VOLT FEED IN THE RUN POSITION OF THE KEY. AND WHICH HAS THE HOT FEED WHEN THE KEY IS TURNED TO START POSITION . LASTLY CAN I UPDATE THE ALTERNATOR TO A 3 WIRE ONE?

The yellow wire is the run wire, the red wire goes to the starter.
That's if the 68 is the same as the 66.

By update alternator to a three wire, I assume you mean a standard GM alternator. Yes, you can do that and eliminate the external Motorola regulator. See http://theamcforum.com/forum/wiring-a-gm-10si-or-27-si-into-amc_topic12493.html
