I have run into a problem and need help! 68 Javelin SST, the fuel gage and temp gage don't work. Checked all of the normal items, grounds and proper wiring but after removing the cluster I have found that there is no power going to each one . Fuses ok and power at fuse box, new regulator on the cluster and it lights the test light. Wires are done to the service manual and everything else works fine. Fuel gage does work when power was given. When I use the test light on the wire at the cluster it doesn't light. Help, Thanks

Sounds like the instrument gauge cluster pin is loose or broken contact.
Post a picture of the connector pins on the back and the traces around the voltage regulator. You can post external pictures by pasting bbcode into the reply box. I use imgbb.com for quick picture posting now. It is easy and you don't need to register. Just be sure to set the drop down menu to full bbcode, as it has many ways to copy links. |

Thanks for the info. Checked all of them and one was so loose it came right out in the cluster. Will try some local places to see if I can get another pin. Thanks again.

Just be careful with how you install the pin. The traces are thin and can be damaged easily. If you have a good model train and hobby repair shop. Since the pins are hollow, they may be able to use a small machine screw and carefully tighten the original pin down through the back of the circuit board. There are other ways to repair with the old pin as well, but this one is easiest. |
