Yes, i'm aware. I'm just trying to make a gear change in the one i have. The AMC 20 American and Rogue rears are getting hard to come by, but it is easier to locate the '66 only rear due to the fact it is a one year only rear and different than the later ones. If a person could change gears to a more suitable gear more of these '66 only rears would get used.

Yeah, I forgot about other V-8 American models in 66.
Vinny, the 66 Ambo was still torque tube though.... |

I'm a little excited now. I'll be getting that rear out of the Marlin soon so i can have a look at the pinion to see what i need to do. Thanks Frank! And everyone else who contributed. Hope you have a nice Independence Day!

If using a newer ring gear with 7/16 holes on an older carrier that uses the 3/8 bolts, interference fit sleeves could be successfully shrunk and pressed in.
Typhooner you have probably helped more people than just yourself with this thread. I don't know what the Rogue rear you have is all about but the possibility of modifying a 66 T/T rear to open drive shaft is not lost on me. Good luck with yours and keep us posted. |
