Hi everybody: I'm about to buy a 1965 American 2 door and I have questions before buy it (or waste my money): where can I get headliner cardboard (or fiberglass)? floor trunk sheet metal has a gap (rusted), is splitted from rear taillights panel, is it fixable or a new sheet metal is required? oil leak from cover valve, where can I find gasket? Thanks again to everybody for your time.

Reproduction plastic headliners are available from the major AMC parts houses. I don't think the trunk pan is available as a repop, but could be found from a parts car, or simple sheet metal used if you're not creating a concourse car.. Valve cover gaskets are fairly easy to obtain.

I have most of a trunk floor I bought to patch another 65 American.. I will be going to Kenosha and can deliver it within 50 miles of ether the I40 route or the I80 route if it is prepaid. PM me if interested. I will be traveling from California,

The car is quite simple if you're handy and used to old cars.
Get a TSM, you'll find them on eBay. Don't bodge along without one. AMC parts are available from Galvins, Kennedy, Peter Stathes, Rock Auto, Kanter, Blasers, APD, Hagens, and no doubt others I've forgotten. And best of all, there's this forum. Ivor |

if trunk is rusted pay close attention to the rear spring mounting point this is a common area they rust out I have a 65 2dr I love the look of the cars
