You're supposed to crack open the Bleed Screws BEFORE pushing the Pistons back into the Calipers to install New Front Brake Pads, right ?
Pushing the Pistons back into the Calipers WITHOUT cracking the Bleed Screws causes problems doesn't it ?
The hydraulic brake system works by "dis-allowing" backwards flow of the fluid obviously.
Wouldn't pushing pistons in without opening bleed screws "blow-out" the Cups in the Master Cylinder ?

I never had to crack the bleeds when returning the pistons into the caliper on a closed brake system. Assuming brakes have already been bled previously.

I guess if you want to do a small flush to add new fluid, you could crack the bleed when returning the piston to seat into the caliper bore, as long as the bleed is top and nobody messes with the pedal before closing the bleed, after piston is set.

When the brake pedal is NOT depressed, fluid is allowed to flow back (how else would the brakes release?). I've never opened the bleeders. I do remove the cap from the MC, and make sure the fluid is down some, so that it doesn't overflow.

On new cars with ABS, I have read that you should open the bleeders to avoid pushing contaminates back into the ABS system.
