Does anybody have any pics of how they set up there manual choke on there Quadrajet? I am thinking I have no choice, but to go this route. Any pics or info would be helpful.

I know that there is a kit from Dorman #55101 that converts the electric to manual, but it doesnt have great reviews.

Thanks,
Steve

Find a later model (approx '78-up) Qjet with the similar choke configuration only electric.  They retro fit back to the earlier models if they are the same setup (i.e. front inlet vs. side inlet, Chev to Chev, Pont to Pont, etc.) and they are pretty consistent, easy to adjust and reliable.  I have not seen a manual choke setup on a Qjet that worked satisfactorily.

I had a manual choke on my 70 Cutlass and it worked great once I figured where to set it for cold start. Open the throttle, pull the choke all the way out then back in about a 1/4 inch, start the engine and adjust cable to suit. It seems like a real pain but I had it down to 1 or 2 stall outs before I was good to go. You can open the choke all the way long before an automatic choke will too.I used it for about 2 years before I sold it and never had a problem. Sadly after all this hype I do not have any pics for you though, but I hope it will dispel any fears you have about manual chokes on a Quad carb Smile
