My plans are to buy the wheels and tires. Totally removal all suspension, rear end and cut the stock tubs out. Then set the wheels and tires in the hole and space how I want the stance. Next measure the distance between the back of each wheels mounting surface and cut the rear housing down to size taking in to consideration the Axel hub offset.

Any suggestions as to why this won't work going this route?

On the original question- I run MT ET Front 26" (Bias Ply) with 275 Pro Drag radials (as do many) and have no issues on or off track.

As for rear fitment-
15X10, 5.5" Backspace 275/60-15 MT Pro drag radial- Stock wheel wells with rolled lips. Calvert Mono leafs relocated inboard with sliders on top of the rear frame rails, tight fit but they fit. Clearance is better without the beadlocks, they seem to make the tire a little taller than the same 275 pro's on my 15x10 Pro stars.  I forget my rear end measurement but I had a Moser M9 made to my width which was the same as a Falcon if I remember correctly. This is all relative, I do think Gremlin's have a smaller flare on their 1/4's.

This is foot braking so suspension is separated a little.

here is my spirit with a 275-60-15 mickey pro drag radial on a 15x10 wheel but i have control freaks 4 link so i am able to utilize a 6.5 backspace, no leafs to worry about, the 28" tire should fit the stock spirit wheel well if the rear is where its suppose to be, in the front i run a 165-80-15 which i believe is 26" tall
