    Posted: Sep/22/2016 at 12:15pm

When going to an after-market wheel and tire on the 1969 AMX - what are people going with?  I like the American Torque Thrust or the American 200X.

And if I want to go with a 15-inch wheel, what width works the best?  And will I need an offset?

The search function is your friend. This has been discussed in many threads.

Backspace is the important number. I'm running repro Magnum 500s, 15x7 w/4.25" backspace. Tires are 235/60r-15s. I have about a fingers width clearance to the trunnion. Lots of room in the rear for a wider tire/wheel. Less backspace will move the tire out away from the frame. In the front it's important not to set the wheel too far out, or it will touch the fender when you turn.

I Like the torq thrust wheels.  No wheel spacers. 225 15 up front and 275 50 15 in rear.  Rubs a little but lowered.
