Drove the car home today and it was glorious! So nice to be turning less rpm and no more annoying vibration. Very excited for Lufkin on Saturday.

Glad you got it going good! I prefer a stick myself. ALL autos have some slippage when starting, torque converter has to! Nothing wrong with the little air cooled unit for what it's made for, as long as it's in good condition. Being nearly 50 years old doesn't help a thing!!

I agree with you on the auto, Farna. I didn't have a problem with the air cooled unit, other then you had to roll into it very gently from a standstill, and no overdrive. Even a lock up converter would have gone a long way. Then there was the vibration at 3000rpm, in park or while driving. Trans shifted really well, but, the fluid was grey when I drained it this past Saturday and it only had about 600 miles on the fluid!
