Question, My AC in my 74 360 Javelin needs charging. Can I use the charging cans I can get at any Auto parts store? Wanted to try, but I am not sure this is an Option.
Thanks, Al

If it's the stock untouched system it's no doubt R-12 and the cans at the auto supply are of no use to you. If it was converted to R-134 and done correctly the low and high pressure fittings should have blue and red plastic caps on them. In that case the auto supply cans are OK. Best to take it to a licensed AC tech to have it checked out.

Hey Rockrambler,
Yes, they have Blue and Red caps. What does that signify? If that is the Tell tale sign that I guess I can use the cans at the Auto store. Thanks, Al

When an R-12 system is converted to R-134 the low and high pressure ports are changed and the red and blue caps are installed to signify this. It would still be best to have it looked at by a qualified auto AC technician. |
