I have a 1969 Javelin with a 343, power drum brakes. I had order a set of front brake cylinders on line but they are too small. The casting number on my old right cylinder says Bendix 618912-R. My local NAPA store says they are no longer available. Does anyone know where I can get a set?

Have you tried Kennedy American, Rambler Parts (Galvins) or AMCPartsdepot? They should have brake cylinders to fit your car.

if you hurry Rockauto.com lists fronts still.
I've had good luck with their NAME BRAND brake parts. I shy away from some of the other brands, but their Bendix and Raybestos and other name brand items, especially "new" are usually spot on.

This is just one example of what they list for the fronts for a 69 with drum. It does indeed appear that the fronts are in short supply, but they list at least 2, maybe 3 possible parts.

Otherwise by all means check the previous tip on where to try - Kennedy, Galvins, APD and so on.
If we don't support the vendors that support us, then AMC parts will be even more difficult to find in the near future.

Check out this "Basics of Basics" on finding parts. http://theamcforum.com/forum/topic73598_post665649.html#665649

They told me at the part store they didn't have my wheel cylinders for the front of my American. I got the right number and called them, they had them in stock!

Check out the "Basics" they may be right there at your parts store!

I posted the crossover because when I checked RA. they were sold out . and unless yours are pitted and/or rusted in the bore. just buy a repair kit . the rubber seal/piston will have the bore size molded on it . a light honing and a kit you are good to go or rather stop ...

I used rebuild kits on both my Rebel and now my wagon.  Both stop just fine!  Now if I can just get the wagon going... LOL
