Does anyone sell a replacement speedo cable for a 74 Hornet hatchback, 232, automatic, or is it possible to purchase and install new plastic "gears" on each end of this cable?

If you don't have to have stock OE stuff you can get really nice quality DIY speedometer cable, housings, and the gear from Summit Racing. As I remember they have a couple different types of speedometer cable outer housings and lengths to choose from. The one I used for my 70 AMX was a nice heavy duty cable, but way more flexable than an OE cable and it was very simple to make up.

I was just looking for a part for my Jeep on NAPA Pro-Link and just for the heck of it I looked up the speedo cable you need.

Their part number is #BK6151604 and they run about $18.00 (my price). The specs. say it's 63" long. The NAPA store my buddy owns has one in stock too if you have a hard time finding one.

Dennis, thanks. I will see if one is available locally in the morning. If not, I may need your help with your Napa friend. My daughter has her driving test next Friday and the speedo has to be functional for the test.  Pat

The rear gear is color coded according to the ratio you need. The rear gear is a Chrysler part and should be available from a number of sources. Joe
