Hi all,

I have a 72 Gremlin straight 6. Currently an automatic. I have a line on a complete "says him" 3 speed column shift set up, including the pedals and driveshaft.

So in my mind this is an easy swap, direct bold in. Ya know, nice Sunday afternoon project.

Anyone do this swap? Am I looking at a title-wave and thinking let's surf?

Thoughts please.

thanks,
Kensey

you would need the clutch linkage. and the 71 and 0lder will have the wrong bellhousing. AND you will need the left strut rod bracket as it has a hole for the crossshaft or as some people call it the Z bar.       AND in some cases you cannot buy a new clutch for an AMC.   ( I cannot get one for my 74 Gremlin.) and its not a one day job.

I was joking about the one day job. Thanks for this info! This is exactly what I was looking for, because I don't know what I don't know. Ya know...

Not to Hyjack the thread ... But what trans are you using that a 10"10 spline disc won't fit ?

Also Kensey did he say what the trans was out of ? column shifts can be a pain. easier to cut a hole and get a floor shift as long as the tail shaft has the mount bracing on the tail shaft .
Swapping them over is not as easy as some think . Big body to small body uses different shift rods and Z bar. different pedal length's . brake light switch position, even different switches . back up light switch. neutral safety switch bypass/incorporation.
Not to discourage you . just some things you will encounter .

Can be done in a weekend though, if you gather the parts ahead of time...
