Is there any difference between 6cyl and V8 power steering boxes in 68-70 Javelins? I've got (2) 6cyl's I'm parting out and need to know if they're worth saving. Thanks!

The mounting brackets would be different but the pump should swap.

Sorry I messed up my own question Confused. I edited it to "Box",  I originally put "Pump". I actually believe the pump was different on at least the 1968 models.

There is no difference between 6 and V8 boxes. There are year differences, particularly '70 (variable ratio). Parts book lists only 1 number for ps gear on all 1970's.

If you can identify a good '70 box, I need one.

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately It's the 70 Machine that brings this topic up. The steering box adjustment is finicky, I get the play out then it's too stiff (doesn't return smoothly), so I'm thinking it may need changing. It may have got water in it during the restoration so until I take it apart I won't know.
  I have (2) 1968's, (1) 1969, (1) 1970, (1) 1971 and (1) 1972, so unfortunately no help to you as will be keeping the 1970 that I have.

If you have a 72 box it may have the slightly quicker ratio and better road feel.
I have a 73 Hornet box on my American and it drives much nicer without the one finger no road feel box on it.

If the box isn't centered when you adjust it you will get a tight spot when it is turned through the center point. To get the play out the box has to be on dead center. Remove linkage from the pitman arm and center the box. Adjust the screw at the point .  Now attach the linkage, ( if the linkage doesn't line up with the centered box adjust the wheels to the box) .
