I've always talked to the shop that would be doing the work and asked how they want me to measure for a new driveshaft. Several different ways, all work, but the way they want it is usually best for them. One wanted the measurement from the center of rear u-joint to the tip of the output shaft at normal ride height (with weight on rear axle -- axle on jack stands).

Ambo went to 122" wheel base for the 1969 model year. Late Ambo 727 shaft should fit.

I put the weight of the car on the suspension, measure center to center of universal joints with the yoke tight in the tranny, and then subtract abut an inch. Then I take the driveshaft to the local driveshaft place and hand it over. They cut it down, balance it and install new U joints for about $75 or so.
