I have put the pilot bushing in the freezer to shrink it, which makes it easier to install in the crank, especially if the crank has been warmed up a wee bit with a propane torch. I have also coated the bushing with Mobil 1 oil which helps the bushing slide in. Also have used an old tranny input shaft to drive in the bushing.
Questions are powerful tools...what's in your toolbox?

clutch kit should have come with alignment tool. Did it go in to the bearing after install? If it did, then it is just getting the trans to slide in. Sometimes it takes a bit of wiggling to get it in. Have had to help drawing it in by the bolts but have to be VERRY careful not to break parts.
