I have recently been seeing a lot of damage on cars coming through the shop and used parts to salvage just are not out there. So I made a die to hand make this area in the passenger side upper corner where the Air Conditioning hose goes through. I odn't think this area was painted very well at the factory so battery acid along with the moisture dripping from the A/C line was a very bad combination.
Here is a picture of "george w" very clean 67 Ambassador in this area. (Just fyi the cutout on an "Ambassador/Marlin" is longer then AMX/Javelin, so I made the tool to do both. Here is the piece I made to replace the damaged part. Now to cut out the old damage and trim the new part to be welded in. Ran out of time today........I have three more cars in line with the same issue, next time I'll make the flange just a little longer to make it easier to form the sharp 90 degree angle. |

Nice patch piece. My Javelin had battery damage in that area too. So bad though that I had to replace the entire baffle.
